Hops and Shots are delighted to announce their new partnership with Stroud Brewery has extended to Stroud's collaboration with River Cottage and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. The first 2000 litres of both beers are now with us for bottling and available for pre-order.

The beer concept was inspired by the Stinger beer Hugh and his team thrived on in the early days at River Cottage. Hugh, has great memories of foraging for the nettles (and drinking the beer) and has always been keen to explore more. After hearing about Stroud Brewery’s ethical credentials and remarkable beer making capabilities, we were invited to bring Hugh’s vision to life.

Like River Cottage, Stroud Brewery are huge advocates of good farming and good produce. Hugh and his team have been giving millions of TV viewers a taste for great cooking since 1999, when Hugh first brought his famous food ethos to Channel 4. Their hard-hitting campaigns have changed the eating habits of the nation and improved animal welfare and food sustainability.

There are two limited edition beers - a "Stinger" 4.2% pale ale, and "Rye PA" 4.1% golden ale.

Stinger Ale

The stinging nettles used in this iconic Stinger Pale Ale are harvested (sometimes by Greg himself!) from an organic farm in the beautiful Stroud valley, they bring a fresh, zesty twist to a beer made with all British organic hops.Dry hopped, light and full bodied with a hint of citrus on the palate.

Rye PA

The Rye PA is a modern take on the classic amber ale, made from organic Rye and malted in the West Country. using Azacca™ + Citra Hops for a big floral aroma.A fantastically full-bodied dry pale ale with a balanced biscuity taste and big floral aromas. Bright and refreshing especially when chilled.
